Last week, Alexander Proudfoot had the privilege of participating in this year's Kaiser Permanente Corporate 5K Run/Walk and Fitness Program. Approximately 80 employees from Proudfoot and its sister company, Kurt Salmon, participated in the event. The run/walk attracts 16,000+ people of all levels of fitness (walkers, joggers and competitive runners) every year from more than 400 Atlanta companies, as well as hundreds of others. Prior to the race, participants can join a free, eight-week training program called "Get Fit Atlanta!" that prepares them for the race. A portion of proceeds benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Back on My Feet and the Atlanta Braves Foundation.
The event took place last Thursday evening at Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves. A friendly competition between Proudfoot and Kurt Salmon for the fastest average time got everyone's competitive juices flowing. In the end, Proudfoot was victorious and took home the inaugural MCG America's Cup. Both teams were well represented by their respective captains -- Cindi Echelson, Branco Kuznar, Lisa Nwakuchuwu and Tom Johnson led the Proudfoot team, while Lori Cox and John Seidl spearheaded Kurt Salmon. Everyone had a great time at the 70's themed post-race party where there was no shortage of food or drink. Some of the participants even dressed up in beatnik attire to celebrate! Kudos to Linas Kaknevicius, James Salmond, Bryan Schreiber, Paige Russell, Jamie Hay and John Lyons for the coordination of various event day operations, including set up of our group tent.
Thanks again to Kurt Salmon for their part in this event. It was a truly gratifying experience for all and we look forward to the next opportunity to serve our community.
